In a significant step towards digital empowerment, the Tamil Nadu government has introduced Unified Payments Interface (UPI) facilities in fair price shops. Currently, 10,661 shops support cashless payments, and the government plans to extend UPI transactions to all 37,328 fair price shops across the state within a year.
