Introduction

This page describes rEFInd, my fork of the rEFIt boot manager for computers based on the Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) and Unified EFI (UEFI). Like rEFIt, rEFInd is a boot manager, meaning that it presents a menu of options to the user when the computer first starts up, as shown below. rEFInd is not a boot loader, which is a program that loads an OS kernel and hands off control to it. (Since version 3.3.0, the Linux kernel has included a built-in boot loader, though, so this distinction is rather artificial these days, at least for Linux.) Many popular boot managers, such as the Grand Unified Bootloader (GRUB), are also boot loaders, which can blur the distinction in many users' minds. All EFI-capable OSes include boot loaders, so this limitation isn't a problem. If you're using Linux, you should be aware that several EFI boot loaders are available, so choosing between them can be a challenge. In fact, the Linux kernel can function as an EFI boot loader for itself, which gives rEFInd characteristics similar to a boot loader for Linux. See my Web page on this topic for more information.

Bruno Mars – 24K Magic (2016) [24-96 FLAC]: A Masterclass in High-Resolution Nostalgia If you’re listening to Bruno Mars - 24k Magic (2016) 24-bit/96kHz FLAC

: Listeners on platforms like Reddit's mixing community note that the mix prioritizes "smacky" drums and a "sweet bottom end" while maintaining a bright, airy top end that never feels shrill.

The groove here relies on a syncopated swing. High resolution preserves the transient response of the drum kit. The kick drum has a "thud" followed by a "bloom." The snare drum has a crack, then a ring. Standard resolution truncates the end of these sounds. 24-96 lets them finish. Bruno Mars - 24k Magic -2016- -24-96 FLAC-

Software capable of bit-perfect playback (such as Foobar2000, Audirvana, or Roon) ensuring your computer's operating system doesn't downsample the audio.

Open-back audiophile headphones or flat-response studio monitors that can accurately reproduce the album's deep sub-bass and high-frequency synth transients.

The album’s title track opens with a heavily vocoded talkbox intro courtesy of Mr. Talkbox. In the high-res FLAC file, the texture of the talkbox is incredibly distinct, separating itself cleanly from the heavy, low-end 808 bass drop that follows. The synth-bass line has a tactile, physical weight that feels round and punchy, rather than flat and booming. 2. "Chunky" Related search suggestions for further reading (functions

The sampling rate is how many times per second the analog audio wave is measured digitally. 96kHz samples the music 96,000 times per second—more than double the rate of a standard CD. This captures the ultra-high frequencies, the "air" around Bruno's vocals, and the natural decay of real studio instruments.

Upon its release, "24k Magic" received widespread critical acclaim. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, and went on to win several awards, including the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 2018.

However, for the critical listener, it is absolutely worth it. 24K Magic was designed to sound like a party in a room. The 24-96 FLAC is the closest you will get to sitting at the mixing desk at Capitol Studios with Mars and engineer Charles Moniz. The kick drum has a "thud" followed by a "bloom

– Pay close attention to the spatial panning of the retro-synth stabs in the left and right channels, alongside the crisp, uncompressed snap of the snare drum.

Bruno Mars’s 2016 album 24K Magic marked a deliberate retreat into unabashed, high-gloss retro-pop and R&B, and a high-resolution 24-bit/96kHz FLAC rip lets the record’s studio sheen and low-end detail breathe. This post explores what makes the album work, what to listen for in the 24/96 FLAC, and whether the high-res file is worth it.

: Offers a massive dynamic range of 144 dB. This is crucial for an album that transitions instantly from dead silence to exploding horn sections.

The album opens with a heavily modulated talkbox introduction by Mr. Talkbox. In the 24/96 FLAC version, the texture of the talkbox is incredibly granular; you can hear the vocal resonance shifting through the plastic tube. When the real beat drops, the Roland TR-808 bass kick doesn't just rumble—it has a tight, physical thump that sits perfectly below the crisp, analog handclaps. 2. The Nuances of "That’s What I Like"
